Welcome to Encinitas

Vibrant oceanfront city with outstanding beaches and surfing.

Encinitas, located in North San Diego County, is famed for its beaches and surf breaks. The city has a vibrant Main Street, where surf shops share the street with international restaurants and laid-back beach-town bars. Encinitas is known as the “Flower Capital of the World” due to its many gardens and nurseries, including the San Diego Botanic Garden. The distinct communities of Leucadia, Olivenhain, and Cardiff-by-the-Sea fall within Encinitas’ borders, while Encinitas CA real estate is divided into an “old” and “new” section, separated by a coastal ridge.

Old Encinitas real estate has an eclectic mix of American Craftsman and Cape Cod-style homes and Californian beach bungalows with spectacular ocean views. Encinitas’ historic downtown Main Street is located within Old Encinitas. New Encinitas is more suburban in character, with large tracts containing spacious single-family Encinitas homes, and a modern commercial corridor along North El Camino Real.

What to Love

People & Lifestyle

Surfing is a way of life in Encinitas. National Geographic and Surfer magazine both rank it among the world’s premier surfing destinations. The Beach Boys included it in their run-through of California’s top surf spots in the classic “Surfin’ USA.” Many residents commute to work, with Encinitas being 25 miles north of San Diego. The COASTER rail service from Encinitas Station to downtown San Diego takes 45 minutes. Easygoing and bohemian, Encinitas CA real estate is a quintessentially Californian beach town with an enchanting atmosphere.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Main Street is full of cool, cozy restaurants and coffee shops in keeping with the relaxed surf-town vibe. The 3rd Corner Wine Shop & Bistro carries an extensive selection of wines, which can be paired with delicious small plates of Californian cuisine. When cruising down the 101, Swami’s Café is a must try, with highlights including acai bowls and breakfast specials. On North El Camino Real, Camino Village Plaza and El Camino Promenade house a wide array of recognizable retailers and international restaurants.

Things to Do

Encinitas real estate’s beaches are among the best in California. Moonlight Beach is great for swimming, surfing, and sunbathing during the day and relaxing around a bonfire at night. Framed by steep bluffs, Swami’s Beach at the southern end of Encinitas is one of California’s most iconic surf spots. Encinitas Ranch Golf Course extends over a bluff-top coastal stretch with breathtaking ocean views. In addition to the golf course, Encinitas Ranch has a 6,000-square-foot clubhouse containing a lounge, full-service bar and grill, along with a patio with sweeping ocean views.
