Founded in 1990, Mama’s Kitchen is a San Diego nonprofit that prepares and delivers medically tailored meals to people facing malnutrition from serious illnesses, such as HIV, cancer, heart failure, type 2 diabetes, kidney disease, and more. Powered by year-round volunteers, businesses, and donors, they’ve served 12+ million meals.

Since 2019, we’ve supported their annual fundraiser, Mama’s Pies. Each Thanksgiving we purchase and gift pies to clients, friends, family, and service providers - and encourage many to order additional ones. The sale of each pie funds 12 nutritious meals to those in need. This year, our support matters more than ever.

With 42% of its budget tied to federal grants and Medi-Cal reimbursements, Mama’s Kitchen has been deeply affected by recent funding cuts. One of their largest federal funding sources has been cancelled, resulting in a $615,000 loss - putting more than 400,000 meals and the health of 1,300 critically ill San Diegans at risk.
